While traveling south along the beautiful East Coast from Connecticut to Williamsburg, Virginia, we stopped for a couple of days in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
We treated ourselves to see Don Felder, performing at the Tropicana Hotel. One of my favorite bands have always been the Eagles and Don Felder's greatest contribution to the group was writing the music for the band's signature song "Hotel California" which included magnificent guitar work throughout that climaxed in a duel with Joe Walsh. Unfortunately, he was fired by the group in 2001.
After the show I wanted to see the rooftop lounge. Little did I know that it was a very private place that served free drinks and some fabulous free food. Everything from Filet Mignon, Lobster claws, roasted veggies and gourmet desserts. The only reason we got in was to stay close to a guy that got off the elevator with us that had a member card, I guess the doorman thought we were with him and let us in.

Williamsburg, Virginia
We arrived at our next destination, the Historic Powhatan Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia. (Powhatan was the local Indian Chief and the Father of Pocahontas in Colonial times.)
Mariners Museum, Newport News, Virginia
Historic Colonial Williamsburg
The British Governor's Palace. It was used by the Colonial Army as a hospital during the Yorktown campaign. There is a courtyard cemetery (found in 1930 during restoration) that contained the skeletal remains of 149 men and 2 women from the battle.
The entrance hall of the palace was decorated with muskets (a game of psychology) to work on the minds of visiting Indians and colonials, to show the British strength.
The flint lock muskets were smooth bore weapons that fired 69 caliber lead balls.
The tour guides for various themes were all dressed in "period" clothing to emphasize the conditions and traditions.
Private Wine Tasting at the Williamsburg Winery
We really enjoyed our private tour of the Williamsburg Winery. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and the wines were very good! We're bringing a few bottles home along with some other souvenirs. I might have to store them under my feet...our car is packed with goodies from every state we've been so far!

A Day Trip to Yorktown
It's always fun to take out your lawn chairs and sit in the park during a free live concert with an orchestra playing tunes you remember, especially when your right next to the Yorktown River!
